Exclusive interview with dancer, choreographer, actor, and influencer Kent Boyd.
Dancer, choreographer, actor, influencer... What doesn't Kent Boyd do?! Boyd is best known from his time on So You Think You Can Dance, season 7 where he placed as the runner up. From there he used his new-found fame to himself as a leading choreographer for the stars; working with Vanessa Hudgens, Billie Eilish, All Time Low, and Dua Lipa. Kent broke the glass ceiling for choreographers by working on the Billboard Music Awards (and with Taylor Swift)! When he isn't dancing his way through Hollywood, Boyd is a budding actor. He starred in the popular, Teen Beach Movie, as well as appeared on Shake it Up and Glee. Most recently Kent has turned his popularity into a career, working as an influencer, speaking on topics that matter most to him.
We were lucky enough to catch up with Boyd to learn what he is up to now! Take a look below:
Your career took off after So You Think You Can Dance. What made you decide to go on the show? That single decision has shaped your entire career!
"I was actually in for a Juilliard audition and they happened to be having auditions for the show while I was there, so I decided to go. I’m so glad I did!"
You have worked with some of today’s biggest stars: Billie Eilish, All Time Low, and even Taylor Swift… You have to tell us who was your favorite star to work with and why?
"Dua Lipa, she’s an icon! Working with her and her team was so much fun."
In addition to your star-studded career, you work as a dance instructor. How do you make time for everything?
"A tight schedule and a helpful team! Also, enjoying downtime and having moments of silence or meditation keep me going. It’s all about conserving that energy!"
Can you tell us more about PridehouseLA? We love the work you and your Teen Beach fellow co-stars are doing there!
"It’s a safe space for our queer community to come together to create, learn, and share online! It's just the beginning, with so much more in the future to come."
What would you like your followers and fans to know about you that they do not know?
"I'm a sucker for churros!"

"PrideHouseLA just started a podcast, so make sure to tune in! Also, I’ll be teaching around America with Hollywood Vibe, a dance convention where we are looking for the next up-and-coming superstars."
