The Fashion of the Oscars 2020: Best Dressed
Updated: Feb 27, 2020
The 92nd annual Academy Awards premiered tonight, February 9, as one of Hollywood's biggest nights. Along with the prestigious Oscar awards, the A-list celebrities, and the viral moments comes the superb fashion.
However, this year, the looks were very underwhelming. Very. Some trends of the night (besides boring) were black and a pale pink or champagne color and some small floral patterns and accents. Although the looks were unbelievably dreck, some stars gave us everything we needed to get through the night. Here's the best dressed... keep in mind the bar is low.
The star stunned in Dior. The black (on-trend for the night) was made elegant with gold floral detail. An added bonus? Her overcoat is lined with the names of female directors whom she thought should be nominated but weren't. THIS is how you make a political statement in a fashionable way.
The comedian looked gorgeous in a simple but stunning glimmering gold gown by Jason Wu with a red lip.
One of the best pale pink / champagne gowns on the red carpet tonight. Brie Larson looked both elegant and glamorous in her Celine gown. Though we're not sure what her extra-long toe is doing popping out of her heel...
Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost
The best dressed couple of the night is Johansson in Oscar de la Renta and Jost in Armani. Fun fact -- the couple also won best dressed couple for our Golden Globes Best Dressed.
The new comedy starlet looks flawless in a shimmering Miu Miu gown with black roses.
The mature actress looks as young as ever in a glitzy Versace gown.
Although she has served a similar look on red carpets throughout the years, there's no denying she rocked this Dolce & Gabbana gown. Plus, she definitely stood out amongst the bland colors this year!
The songstress and Pitch Perfect star looks ravishing in a sheer floral gown.
Miss Monae took a risk with a non-traditional type of gown to the Oscars, but she definitely pulled it off!
Overall, the looks were bland and boring, so it's really not worth recapping the worst dressed (the list would be LONG!). Here's to a better red carpet next year?
